Ubatuba is 200 km north from São Paulo and 360 km south from Rio de Janeiro. It lies near remnant Atlantic Rain Forest that covers most of the areas from sea level up to mountain tops. The area supports some really rare and restricted endemic species of birds. Among many other birds there you can see Black Hawk-Eagle, Reddish-bellied Parakeet, Black-throated Mango, Festive Coquette, Scale-throated, Reddish and Saw-billed Hermit, White-tailed Trogon, Black-capped Foliage-Gleaner, Spot-backed Antshrike, Scaled and Squamate Antbird, Spot-breasted Antvireo, Unicolored and Streak-capped Antwren, Rufous-capped Antthrush, Rufous and Black-cheeked Gnateater, Slaty Bristlefront, Bare-throated Bellbird, Buff-throated Purpletuft, Pin-tailed Manakin, Red-necked, Brazilian, Golden-chevroned and Brassy-breasted Tanager, Green Honeycreeper and Chestnut-bellied Euphonia.
